West Orange Saint Patrick’s Day Parade 2017

On Sunday, March 12, more than 30 members of Clifton FMBA Local 21 joined with members of Paterson FMBA Local 2 to march in the West Orange St. Patrick’s Day parade.

“Irish Americans have traditionally played a proud role in protecting our communities through the fire service,” stated John Beard, President, Clifton FMBA Local 21. “Our departments are now much more diverse, giving us ample opportunities to celebrate the many cultures that now work together to make ours the greatest job in the world!”

Condolences to the Cooper Family- Retired Clifton Fire Lieutenant

COOPER
Kevin D. 64, life-long resident of Clifton, NJ, went home to be with his Savior on Thursday, March 2, 2017 after a valiant two-year battle with leukemia.

A graduate of Eastern Christian Schools, Kevin served the City of Clifton for twenty-six years as a firefighter, retiring in 2010 as Lieutenant of Truck 2. After retiring, he drove for Chief Trucking Co. in Wayne, NJ. He loved fixing things, helping anyone who needed help, working on his antique cars, and especially spending time with family.

Kevin enjoyed singing and participated in, among others, the Cathedral Choir, Belleville Choir, Living Word Choir, and Male Chorus for many years. He also loved working in his garden. As a member of Living Word Reformed Church, he served as Deacon. Kevin was a member of FMBA Local #21 in Clifton, the Antique Automobile Association of America (ACAA) and Tinker T’s.

He is survived by his loving wife Kathy; loved by his five children and their spouses: Laura Kuehlke (Rob), Kim Figueroa (Dave), David Coole (Inna), Kristen Byrne (Mike), and Lindsay Petruno (Chris); adored by his grandchildren: Anthony, Danny, Analyse, Michael, Joseph, Bella, Gabriella, and Kayla; his mother Alida (Houthuysen); brothers: Paul and Peter (Lois); sisters: Jan Van Someren (Bernie), Ellen Tintle (Todd), and Emily; sister-in-law, Nancy; and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father, Nick and brother, Mark.

Visiting will be Tuesday 2-5 and 7-9PM at Allwood Funeral Home, 660 Allwood Rd., Clifton, NJ 07012 , with a private family burial on Wednesday morning followed by an 11AM Memorial Service at the Living Word Reformed Church, 21 Pleasant View Drive, North Haledon, NJ. 07508 with repast following. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Living Word Reformed Church.

Clifton FMBA 21- Cooked and Uncorked Event

On Monday, February 27, a team of firefighters from Clifton FMBA Local 21 will participate in the 7th annual Cooked and Uncorked Food and Wine Tasting event. This special event, hosted by the NJFMBA, pits teams of professional firefighters, representing 20 New Jersey fire departments, competing to show off their cooking talents, and will be held at the Pines Manor in Edison.

The event benefits the Saint Barnabas Burn Center and the New Jersey Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association Foundation.

“The time our members spend together in the firehouse, sometimes in the kitchen, is an important part of their efforts to develop camaraderie and a sense of teamwork,” stated John Beard, President, FMBA Local 21. “That is every bit as important to their ability to do their jobs as the rigorous and continual training they go through every shift. This event is a great way for them to work together, blow off some steam, and raise money for some important causes.”

Tim Flynn, Clifton’s Cooked and Uncorked Executive Chef added, “Our team is ready to compete with the best firehouse chefs in New Jersey, and we are proud to dedicate our participation to the memory of Scott Danielson, a committed volunteer first responder, and brother of one of our members, who died in 2016 after responding to a car accident.”
